10-Day / 9-Night Kenya–Tanzania Family Safari Adventure
Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi – Family Welcome & City Highlights
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where your family is warmly welcomed and transferred to a comfortable hotel in Nairobi. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy optional visits to the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, or a local craft market. Overnight in a family suite or connecting rooms.
Day 2: Nairobi to Amboseli – Mount Kilimanjaro Views & Elephants
After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park (approx. 4–5 hours), famous for its large herds of elephants and iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive for lunch at your lodge and head out for a child-friendly afternoon game drive. Kids receive safari activity packs and can learn to spot animals using checklists.
Day 3: Full Day in Amboseli – Wildlife Tracking & Family Activities
Spend the day exploring Amboseli’s rich ecosystem with morning and afternoon game drives, and time to relax by the pool in between. Older kids can join a junior ranger program, while parents enjoy a sundowner. Optional Maasai village visit provides cultural insight and fun interactive experiences.
Day 4: Cross to Arusha, Tanzania – Scenic Travel Day
After breakfast, drive to the Namanga border, clear immigration, and continue to Arusha in Tanzania. Arrive at your lodge set in tranquil gardens, with time to relax, enjoy nature walks, or swim before dinner. Overnight in a family-friendly hotel or lodge.
Day 5: Drive to Tarangire National Park – Baobabs & Elephants
Drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its ancient baobab trees and huge elephant populations. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive with possible sightings of lions, giraffes, and zebras. Kids love the wide-open space and unique landscapes. Overnight in a safari lodge with family tents or cottages.
Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti – Game Viewing En Route
Today’s journey takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and into the Serengeti. Enjoy game drives along the way, with stops to stretch and take in the views. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for dinner and a family storytelling session under the stars.
Day 7: Full-Day Safari in Serengeti – Big Cats & Wildebeest
Explore the iconic Serengeti plains, known for lion prides, cheetahs, and massive herds of wildebeest and zebra. Go on morning and afternoon drives, or opt for a picnic lunch in the bush. Guides keep younger travelers engaged with wildlife facts, tracks, and fun games.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater – Big Five Game Drive
After breakfast, depart Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Crater, with a game drive and optional visit to Olduvai Gorge en route. Descend into the crater for a family-friendly Big Five safari, with high chances of spotting rhinos, elephants, and lions in a single drive. Overnight in a lodge overlooking the crater or in Karatu.
Day 9: Cultural Visit & Return to Arusha
In the morning, enjoy a cultural tour or banana farm walk in the Karatu region — perfect for kids to interact with local children and see daily village life. After lunch, return to Arusha for a farewell dinner and a relaxed evening at your lodge or hotel.
Day 10: Departure Day – Fly Home or Extend to Zanzibar
Depending on your flight time, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey. Optional Zanzibar beach extensions available for families who’d like to end their safari with sun and sand.
